Rebekah took Esther’s deal, now The Originals new Rebekah is played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers!
Esther had already brought former vampires Finn and Kol back in warlock bodies, now her vampire daughter Rebekah is in a witch body, imprisoned in the Folly mansion asylum with a bunch of crazy witches. It also appears as if Cassie is also one of the patients there from the promo for 2×10 “Gonna Set Your Flag on Fire” episode when The Originals returns January 19th, 2015.
According to Executive Producer Michael Narducci, Rebekah was the natural choice for the body switcheroo, perhaps also because she’s no longer a series regular. Rebekah always wanted a normal, human life, especially after having a pseudo-human life taking care of Hope. Way way back on The Vampire Diaries she was the one who pined for the “Cure” that was a single dose meant for Silas but ended up making Katherine Petrova human.
Michael Narducci on Rebekah being human
We felt the story line made the most sense for Rebekah, because she has always been the one who said she wants to be cured from vampirism. She wants to be mortal so she can experience a human life and have a family, and maybe this is the best thing in the world for her.
Also a lesson in “being careful what you wish for!” Will Rebekah regret her sacrifice after 1000 years of vampire strength, speed, immortality, and invulnerability now that she’s a puny, helpless human? Plus, she’s locked in an asylum with a bunch of crazy witches!
Who is this beautiful witch who is now Rebekah Mikalson? She’s played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who is a relatively unknown English actress who is so new she doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page yet!
Maisie graduated in 2013 from Oxford University with a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology. During her time at Oxford she spent her free time doing theater, which included a lead role in “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.” She was also in two shorts, “Our First World” and “Americano and Rum.”
Maisie really burst on the scene when she was cast as Korr Sella in the new Star Wars movie, “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” which is currently in post-production and scheduled to be released in 2015. Korr Sella is a “young black or mixed-race woman who may be a descendent of Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi,” according to The Hollywood Report. Quite a coup that one, fangsters!
