Stephen Moyer, Milus Corbett, The Bastard Executioner

True Blood’s Stephen Moyer will play nobleman Milus Corbett in the new FX series “Bastard Executioner”!

True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer is giving up his fangs and going back to 14th century Wales as nobleman and chamberlain Milus Corbett in FX’s “Bastard Executioner“!

The 10-episode event series was created by Kurt Sutter, who also created the successful FX series Sons of Anarchy. Like SOA, this series also stars his wife, Katey Sagal, who plays mystical seer Annora of the Alders.

The Bastard Executioner synopsis

Bastard Executioner tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward The Thirds charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again, he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.

The series films in Wales and stars newcomer Lee Jones as the executioner Wilkin Brattle. His character begins the series as a knight fleeing battle in the Welsh barley fields of the fictional town of Ventrishire. He adopts the disguise of a simple farmer and marries a local girl. Although Brattle has sworn off violence, one event leads to another and he ends up as Castle Ventris’ punisher, responsible for torturing and executing lawbreakers.

Katey Sagal plays Annora of the Alders, a spiritual guide for Brattle, who believes she has a divine purpose, and who receives messages about him. She seems to know things about him that he doesn’t, which draws him to her. Annora’s husband, The Dark Mute, is played by real-life hubby Kurt Sutter, who seldom speaks.

Stephen Moyer plays “street-smart and noble” Milus Corbett, chamberlain to Lord Ventris, played by Irish actor Brian F. O’Byrne. According to Stephen, his character has “maneuvered himself into this position to get the best out of his life and he’s going to do everything he can to stay there.”

Brian F. O’Byrne has most recently played attorney Ken Karn on “Aquarius” which stars David Duchovny and The Originals Claire Holt, and Sean in “The Last Ship.”

Other cast members include real life Welshman Matthew Rhys of “The Americans” who plays Welsh rebel leader Gruffudd y Blaidd, and Jack Greenlees as King Edward II.
