Secrets and lies are revealed in The Originals recap of 2×06 “Wheel Inside The Wheel” rerun!

The Originals episode of “Wheel Inside the Wheel” begins with a flashback to winter in Norway, 972 A.D. A woman walks through the snow to a witch working a spell. She begs her to help her conceive, but the woman requires a sacrifice of the woman, who is her sister. Desparate for children, she agrees. This is Esther, the hub of the wheel inside the wheel.

Oliver, bloody and captive by Esther and Finn, is sentenced to death for helping Elijah. Esther tells Finn she’s proud of him, then she goes where Elijah is still dreaming, grabs a knife, and slits his throat.

Klaus, bloody, washes his hands as Hayley comes and says she wants to go with him to get Elijah back. He tells her no. He can’t save Elijah if he’s busy saving her, too!

Hayley goes to Marcel to help save Oliver since she can’t help save Elijah. He’s not sure about her plan, but agrees to help.

Cami is studying at the bar when Vincent shows up. Prying for info on Klaus, he starts questioning her. When he orders her favorite drink, she becomes suspicious, picks up her books, and leaves.

Klaus digs up his mother’s casket and prepares to burn it when a vision of Elijah arrives and calls to him. The hallucination plinks some old piano keys, then tells Klaus, “If I didn’t know better I’d say you were worried.” Then Esther shows up and tells Klaus she’ll give him back Elijah soon. She chastises Klaus for needing to rule over everybody and hates that he’s so miserable. He tells her Mikael is back, revealing that Kol knew and chose not to tell her.

In Father Kieran’s lair, Cami searches through old birth records and finds Vincent’s name. Marcel comes and he tells him Vincent has no credentials. Marcel tells her Vincent is Finn Mikaelson and she should talk to him anymore. Angry at being duped, she tells Klaus she’s just beginning.

Esther tells Klaus Mikael was nice once and loved all of them, especially the oldest, Freya. She tells him if Mikael tries to hurt him she’ll protect by putting him in another body so Mikael can’t get to him, but he wants none of it. She tells Klaus about his real father and he flashes back to when he found his real father dead at Mikael’s hands. She tells him his real father loved him, but she told him to stay away because of Mikael.

As they walk outside, Klaus calls her a whore and she slaps him. Mikael despaired when Freya died of the plague and it ruined their relationship, which is when she fell for Klaus’ father. Mikael was happy when Klaus was born and Klaus helped bring the family back together. She wants to put Klaus into a werewolf body so he can find peace and happiness and live a mortal life and have children. Klaus just wants Elijah back. Klaus rushes at her. She pushes him away with magic then snaps Klaus’ neck.

Hayley looks for Jackson in the bayou when arrows are shot at her, which she snatches out of the air. Jackson shows up and tells Ansel to stop. Then he fills her in on how Ansel has been teaching him how to be a wolf. Going back to the beginning. He doesn’t want to be the Alpha anymore. And he’s not going to help her save Oliver. She leaves and Ansel goes with him. He’s not going to let a wolf be killed by a bunch of witches.

At the lair, Marcel tells Cami he doesn’t want her to get involved with any more Mikaelson drama, but she still feels guilty. If she had gotten involved Klaus’ baby would still be alive and the Guerrera werewolves wouldn’t have taken control. Marcel gets a call from Hayley asking him if he can keep Finn occupied so they can save Oliver. Marcel looks at Cami and says he thinks he can arrange it!

“Wheel Inside the Wheel” press release synopsis

A FAMILY BUILT ON SECRETS AND LIES – Fed up with her antics, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) becomes agitated and demands that Esther (guest star Sonja Sohn) release Elijah (Daniel Gillies), whom she has captured. However, Esther reveals a few dark secrets from Klaus’ past in an attempt to make him an offer he can’t refuse. Meanwhile, Oliver (guest star Chase Coleman) ends up in a dangerous situation, prompting Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) to reconnect with Jackson (guest star Nathan Parsons), who has been living a new life out in the bayou. Elsewhere, Cami (Leah Pipes), who still believes baby Hope’s death was her fault, teams up with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Gia (guest star Nishi Munshi) after she becomes suspicious of her faculty advisor Vincent (guest star Yusuf Gatewood). Lastly, in a surprising turn of events, Klaus comes face-to-face with a visitor from his past.

Cami goes into the bar to meet Vincent as Marcel and Gia wait outside. As Cami and Vincent drink, she starts asking him questions about his family and asks what his diagnosis might be of Klaus. He starts to get suspicious of all the questions. She tells him she’s always drawn to “bad boys” hinting that she might be attracted to him. He caresses her hand and she knows she’s got him right where she wants him.

Meanwhile, outside, a werewolf close in on Marcel and Gia and bites both of them, then Marcel rips his heart out. Back at Marcel’s he gives Gia a sip of Klaus’ blood and thanks her for sticking with him. Cami call and tells him she thinks Finn likes her, so she’s ready to take him down.

Hayley and Ansel rescue Oliver, but wolves start coming. Ansel tells her to leave with Oliver, then he goes outside to fight them off. As they run away, Aiden and some wolves stop them and Oliver tells them they’re crazy for listening to witches. Aiden and his wolves leave.

Klaus goes to find Elijah and hears fighting. When he goes out he sees Ansel fighting and helps him kill the wolves. He recognizes his father, but thinks it’s a trick of Esther’s. He tells Klaus he was on the other side and somehow crossed back. He says he doesn’t have anything to do with Esther. Ansel lovingly touches his face, but he tells his father that he means nothing to him. Then he goes in to rescue Elijah, breaking his chains and destroying Esther’s spelled doll.

Esther gives Klaus one more chance, but he attacks and chokes her instead, angry that she tried to kill his daughter. He hates her even more for that. She makes his nose bleed, but he doesn’t release her. He won’t join her. She’s almost passed out when he releases her and gently picks Elijah up and leaves.

Hayley and Oliver are in the bayou with Jackson. Oliver says Jackson is the true Alpha and the pack needs him and he’s sorry for everything. Jackson doesn’t want to hear it. Then Oliver spits up blood and blood oozes from his eyes. Hayley and Jackson watch helplessly as Oliver dies from the witches’ spell.

Vincent comforts Esther as she remembers the past and her sister Dahlia coming to take Freya. Her sacrifice was giving her sister her first born child, and the first born child of every generation. Another reason she made her children vampires so they couldn’t procreate. Another reason she wanted to kill Hope, so her sister couldn’t take her. But if Dahlia can’t have Hope, she’ll return and take all of Esther’s children.

At the compound, Hayley and Klaus watch Elijah as he continues to sleep from Esther’s spell, locked in his memories.
