Nathan Parsons reveals whether he’d rather be a werewolf or vampire and surviving The Originals!
Nathan Parsons, Jackson on The Originals, talks about his character and surviving the high body count since Klaus is out to separate his head from his body.
Season 1 of The Originals dealt with the vampires, werewolves, and witches fighting for control of New Orleans, but season 2 focuses on the Mikaelson family and the quest to keep baby Hope safe. Finn has discovered Hope is alive, and with Freya’s return can Dahlia be far behind?
Klaus wants to keep Hope in the safe house, but Hayley wants to bring her home by marrying Jackson and having a werewolf army to protect her. Hayley was telling Jackson about Hope as 2×14 “Sanctuary” ended. One less secret to reveal during the unification marriage ceremony.
Nathan, who played the vampire James on True blood, also stars as John Rhodes on Amazon’s new series “Point of Honor,” which also stars Riley Voelkel as his sister Lorelei Sumner. On IMDB he’s listed as being in the 2×14 “I Love You, Goodbye” episode but no more. Let’s hope this doesn’t mean Klaus finally kills him.
With the upcoming marriage to Hayley storyline, Nathan talked about Jackson and the possibility of surviving to season 3.
Nathan says Jackson tends to stick with his werewolves. Like Klaus, he has trust issues, especially when it comes to vampires and witches trying to destroy or use his people for their own agenda. Since he’s marrying Hayley, he’s not going to be able to avoid the inevitable clash with Elijah and possible death at the hands of Klaus.
If he survives Klaus, he’d love to see some flashbacks of Jackson’s past, especially when and how he triggered his werewolf curse. He thinks it may have happened when he was between 10 and 12, but who and how did he kill them. While he presents a nice and noble side, there’s definitely a darker side lurking in the shadows.
During the unification ritual, truth must be told and secrets revealed. Will it work if she doesn’t really love Jackson, or does she love him enough? Since their marriage must be real, will she eventually love him the way she loves Elijah? Nathan says that Jackson realizes that just because she’s agreeing to the wedding she won’t all of a sudden forget about Elijah. But he really loves Hayley and wants to help her help their werewolves, whatever it takes.
As the season progresses, if he survives, Nathan says we’ll learn more about his backstory and things he knows about Hayley’s family history.
As for his preference of a vampire or werewolf, he says he prefers being a werewolf because it’s more interesting descending into the animalistic side of his nature. He doesn’t understand why people romanticize vampires. “What’s so appealing about somebody sucking your blood?” Werewolves are crazy, wild, loyal, and passionate, which is more appealing.
As for his chances of surviving to season 3, he’s not a gambling man!
Nathan on making it to season 3
If I were a gambling man I’d keep my money in my pocket. In this world, good guys don’t seem to last too long, but we’ll see. Maybe if this ritual works and Jackson gets a little more spine he’ll manage to claw his way into another year!
