Claire Holt welcomed 2015 with short hair, a gig on NBC, and The Originals Rebekah in a witch!

The Originals Claire Holt is starting out 2015 with a new shorter hairdo, a new project on NBC, and her character Rebekah has a new body. At least for now!

Although we may miss her luxurious long hair she’s had as vampire Rebekah Mikaelson, with so many exciting things happening in her life, Claire‘s new short bob is the perfect way to start the new year. She also posted a photo on Instagram showing her new haircut.

Claire is also set to co-star as Officer Charmain Tully on “Aquarius,” a 13-episode event series starring David Duchovny as cop Sam Hodiak, hot on the trail of Charles Manson in 1967. Charles Mansion is played by Gethin Anthony, who played Renly Baratheon on “Game of Thrones.”

Claire has also auditioned for the lead role of Kara Zor-El, AKA Kara Danvers, on the new CBS “Supergirl” series. This would have been a huge commitment and definitely a supergirl work schedule with her role on “Aquarius” and any future guest appearances for flashbacks on The Originals. Due to the demanding schedule, sources indicate the lead role may go to British soap star actress Gemma Atkinson, another beautiful blue-eyed blonde, instead of Claire.

After “The Map of Moments” mid-season finale, Rebekah ended up in the body of a witch, thanks to Mama Esther, and the witch is imprisoned in an insane asylum, thanks to brother Kol! The new witchy Rebekah is played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who is also in the new Star Wars movie “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” as Korr Sella, described as a “young black or mixed-race woman who may be a descendent of Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi.”

According to executive producer Michael Narducci, this body jump of Rebekah’s may not “necessarily” be permanent. IMDB shows that Claire is scheduled to appear in the season two finale. Perhaps the cliffhanger will involve Claire returning to the body of present day Rebekah. In the meantime, there are flashbacks.

There are plenty of flashback [opportunities] to explore what Rebekah has been doing for the past 1,000 years.

As the series continues season two, how will the new Rebekah get out of the asylum, and what witchy powers will she discover she possesses? Will Kol reveal to Klaus and Elijah what he’s done to Rebekah? In the promo, Klaus says they have a witch problem. Is this a reference to Rebekah in the asylum that Klaus was responsible for putting a boundary spell on that has now locked Rebekah in there?
