Spoilers: Sneak peek for The Originals 1×22 “From a Cradle to a Grave” season one finale rerun!
The sneak peek for the season finale of The Originals, “From a Cradle to a Grave,” shows the trio of Marcel, Davina, and Cami, as Cami shows them her Uncle Kieran’s secrets. Now we know who Cami will be choosing and which side she’ll be on.
Davina discovers the devil’s star that will make a thousand cuts, and this seems to suit Marcel just fine as the perfect weapon to make Klaus bleed. Since he seems to be unable to heal himself, could he bleed to death? Probably not, but he could definitely be extremely weakened and unable to defend himself and his family.
According to Joseph Morgan, the finale will take last week’s episode even further so hold onto your seats, fangsters.
Joseph Morgan on the season one finale
It’s a huge episode, and it’s also very terrifying. It’s a really frightening episode. I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed. We’re going to go out real strong.
Michael Narducci promises more deaths and new alliances to tip the balance of power and drive the series in a new direction for season two.
With Klaus having gone through so much this first season, will he be able to pick up the pieces in season two? Rebekah is gone. Genevieve used a linking spell to link him to the werewolves who will pull their strength from him. Elijah may not want to even both trying to redeem him anymore. Everybody in the Quarter is against him. He’s facing the life-altering change of being a father.
Will fatherhood change Klaus?
According to Joseph, if Klaus has a chance to see and hold his baby, he could either become all nurturing or go the other way. Whatever happens, he’s not sure Klaus will be able to handle it and isn’t sure how it may affect “his bloodlust.”
Michael Narducci feels the baby could profoundly change Klaus in positive ways. She will humble him and help him realize a new connection to his family, as well as giving him the kind of “unrequited love” he has longed for his whole life. Due to her vulnerability, “Klaus will be shaken to his core by the threat his enemies pose to his child.”
New and shifting alliances
According to Michael, ever though they fight, bicker, and war against each other, they’re still brothers and are extremely committed not only to each other but to their family bond of “always and forever” they swore over a thousand years ago.
Season two will explore their brotherly dynamic moving forward. Klaus will still try to have things his way, and Elijah will decide to continue to try and redeem him. A rather co-dependent relationship. In spite of everything, they both love and want to protect Hayley and the baby, each in his own unique way. They both intend to keep the baby safe, which hints that she will survive the bloodshed at the end of the season one finale. Elijah will continue to have strong romantic feelings towards Hayley, which hints that she will also survive and continue to be a force in season two.
Hayley’s character will also continue to be explored in the next season. With the birth of the baby and motherhood, she’ll experience a traumatic and fundamental shift which will change her forever. Hayley will not only be a protective mother, but she will also be a force with her newly discovered werewolf family that is still in the bayou. These, plus her romance with Elijah, complicated feelings towards Klaus, and the unresolved issue of a marriage contract with Jackson, will have huge impacts on all of these relationships going forward.
The relationships and friendships among Marcel, Davina, and Cami will also continue into season two. This is a pretty good indication that all three of them will be surviving the season finale bloodbath.
Joseph Morgan on family ties and honor
Joseph feels that Klaus has changed since the beginning of the season. Even though we may not agree, he feels that family has become tighter and definitely more important to Klaus. We saw how down he was when Rebekah left. With the baby, and hopeful return of his sister in the future, he feels they’re becoming a more tighter unit and hopefully will be able to work together to hold onto the city and “make things work.”
Joseph on Klaus’ change
I would say he’s become more likable. I like him more, I’ve always liked him, but I feel like there’s more honor. His brother is rubbing off on him! Impending fatherhood has caused him to face his own demons. It’s really come full circle and that’s the season in a nutshell: him having to deal with his past in order to be able to deal with his future.
