Joseph Morgan, executive producer Julie Plec, and Daniel Gillies share teasers about season 3 of The Originals!

Season 3 of The Originals is only weeks away, but Joseph Morgan, executive producer Julie Plec, and Daniel Gillies are sharing teasers and spoilers.

Joseph Morgan, who plays Klaus, has read some of the season 3 scripts and it sounds like he was impressed. He sent The Originals writing staff a trio of gifts, including a fancy black fire extinguisher, to let them know exactly what he thought of them. One of the writing staff posted a picture on Instagram of the gifts, captioning it with, “Thanks for the fire extinguisher, @JosephMorgan. What does that say about the scripts you’ve read?”

He responded to them in a tweet, and the teaser sounds good for another exciting season when they return for season 3 on Thursday, October 8, 2015!

Joseph wasn’t the only one tweeting about the upcoming season. Julie Plec also tweeted that her writing staffs for her three shows were busy at work mapping out and writing episodes for The Vampire Diaries and the new Containment in addition to The Originals!

In addition to a night change from Monday to Thursday, other big changes include Davina being regent for all the witch covens, targeting the Mikaelsons as their number 1 enemy.

The spirits are going to have access to Davina. They’re going to lend her their power and communicate with her about what’s best for the people and witches of New Orleans. That’s who she’ll be an advocate for, and the Mikaelsons, some would argue, are not the best things in the world for the witches. That’s going to put them at odds, assuming there’s no larger threat coming for which they might have to unite against. There are a lot of different ways this could play out.

Klaus and Cami will continue their developing relationship, although romance isn’t in the cards for Klamille just yet.

Daniel Gillies, who plays Elijah, also teased about the conflict between the brothers, which will be “an alliance on its last thread of trust.” The hostile relationship between Elijah and Klaus will spark the dramatic series developments in the upcoming season.

Daniel Gillies on a begrudging alliance

I think the rift between them is going to precipitate the chain of events. It’s not just a begrudging alliance now – it’s an alliance on its last thread of trust.

At the end of season 2, it was only after Hayley, played by Phoebe Tonkin, asked Elijah to help look after Hope and be a positive influence in her life that Elijah reluctantly returned to Klaus’ side. Hayley will remain in wolf form, at least for the season premiere.

Daniel went on to say that he doesn’t think these two brothers will ever get along, which he feels is “the fundamental problem of the entire show.” Since the writers are taking things one season at a time, he’s not sure where they’re building up the tumultuous relationship arc.

Daniel on network vs cable TV writing

I think there’s no way to determine how to strategize taking a show from A to Z on network television. I think that the HBOs of the world, the AMCs … like, I do believe “Breaking Bad” was an arc that they foresaw and that they fulfilled, but I just think that with us there’s just no way. There’s just too many variables.

Daniel Gillies on next season

Season 3 will be going in a totally new direction when The Originals returns Thursday, October 3, 2015, at 9/8c, after The Vampire Diaries at 8/7c, on The CW!
