Klaus’ real father helps save Elijah in The Originals 2×07 episode “Chasing The Devil’s Tail”!

The Originals episode of “Chasing the Devil’s Tail” begins in Elijah’s dream world with young Klaus and Elijah running away from an adult Elijah, who warns his younger self about turning into a monster.

Klaus talks to Elijah, and tries to connect with his mind, but a frightened Hayley interrupts him.

When Hayley notices the rash on Elijah’s neck, Klaus remembers the plant Esther used on Mikael. The orchid put him to sleep, and the root woke him up. He thinks it might wake Elijah up. Klaus tells Hayley to stay with Elijah while he looks for the plant and not go after Esther.

After he leaves, she says she’s going after everything Esther loves.

Jackson, in the bayou, puts Oliver to rest. Like a viking funeral, Jackset sets fire to the boat Oliver’s body is in as he pushes it into the water. In the morning, only Hayley shows for his memorial. Hayley tells an upset Jackson that their pack needs their alpha.

Hayley and Aiden go to Marcel and tell him about their plan to take down Finn. The plan involves Cami, who is totally in. Cami, meeting with Finn, leads him on and makes him think she’s interested in him. He totally falls for her bait and asks her if she likes jazz!

Davina tries to fix a mirror with a spell, but Kaleb interrupts her and the mirror rebreaks. She doesn’t trust him and tells him to button his shirt and quit flirting. He says they have to trust each other if he’s going to share his secrets. He collapses as bloody marks appear on his left arm. Mommy is calling him home!

Esther tells Finn to bring Cami in and gives him a root to use. He says he can do it without the magic since she’s into him and he doesn’t want to hurt her.

Klaus searches the bayou for the plant, but he’s not alone. He grabs his father, Ansel, and pins him to a tree, telling him to quit following him. Ansel says he knows where the plant is, but Klaus wants nothing to do with him and heads off. Ansel tells him if he’s looking for the plant he might want to head in a different direction, since he’s the one who used to get the plants for Esther!

As they walk, he tells Ansel he’s pissed that he left him with Mikael. He reveals he’s watched Klaus from the other side and enjoyed the small pleasures he saw his son have. Climbing the Himalayas. Painting. Feeling the first kick of his baby daughter. Klaus gets angry at the mention of Hope. He asks if he watched him slaughter villages, then asks if he made his father proud. Angry, he pushes Ansel away. Ansel tells him to read his thought so he can see he’s not working with Esther.

Hayley, Aiden, Marcel, Josh, and Cami firm up plans to take Finn down. Cami brings objects her Uncle Kieran left her, including handcuffs that take away a witch’s power.

Esther tells Kol he’s taking too long to get the White Oak Stake. She tells him she knows Mikael is back. Stunned, he says everything is under control and he has a plan.

When he and Davina go to a tomb in the cemetery, he tells her Esther wants the Stake. He wants her blood to get into the tomb. It can only be opened by a relative, and the tomb belongs to Mary-Alice Claire. Inside, he shows her all the magical weapons he instructed her ancestor to create. He shows her the dagger he wants to stick Klaus with. It will put him in a deep sleep and she won’t have to unlink her friends.

Cami and Finn listen to a jazz band when Cami gets a call then disappears outside. When he hears her scream he rushes out and sees she’s been bitten by a werewolf. When he looks at the wolf then back at Cami, she’s gone.

“Chasing the Devil’s Tail” press release synopsis

GOING AFTER EVERYTHING ESTHER LOVES – When Klaus (Joseph Morgan) discovers that Elijah (Daniel Gillies) has been afflicted by Esther’s (Sonja Sohn) magic, he heads to the bayou in search of an antidote, but quickly realizes he’s not alone. Armed with intel gathered by Aiden (guest star Colin Woodell), Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) teams up with him, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), Cami (Leah Pipes) and Josh (guest star Steven Kruger) and launches a plan to take down Vincent (guest star Yusuf Gatewood) by exploiting his one weakness. Meanwhile, with Esther determined to carry out her plan, Vincent and Kaleb (guest star Daniel Sharman) are forced to reconsider their own strategies. Intrigued by Davina’s (Danielle Campbell) unwavering attempts to create an unlinking spell, Kaleb lets her in on some secrets from his past and brings her to a place he frequented in 1914.

In the church, Hayley gives Cami her blood to heal her. Aiden tells Finn Cami is in the church. The trap is set. Once inside, Hayley kicks Finn. He starts to take her heart, but Jackson shoots him with arrows to weaken him. Cami overtakes him and slaps the handcuffs on him, suppressing his magic.

Hayley tells Jackson he got there just in time. She says she’s not exactly the girl he had been waiting for all those years. He tells her she’s right. She’s better!

Kol shows Davina the large paragon diamond that conducts their power. They begin to chant and the rope they’re holding turns into a metal bracelet which he puts on her wrist. He suggests they could be a coven of two. He tells her, “Davina Claire! We’re going to change everything.” He tells her she needs to rest and he’ll watch over her. After he puts her on a bed and she goes to sleep, he steals the White Oak Stake from her purse. But he doesn’t get past Marcel.

In the woods, Ansel sharpens his blade. He wants Klaus to be a wolf and forget his vampirism. He would be a better father. Klaus says he’s no longer a father. While his offer is tempting, he’s on a different path. He waited too long to rescue him. But he won’t make the same mistake with Hope. Ansel tells him power lies in accepting his true nature. He could be King to an entire species and find peace. He says, “I know the call of my own blood, Klaus. I know your child is still alive.”

After Ansel gives Klaus the plant, Klaus grabs the blade and approaches him. He can’t live to jeopardize Hope’s safety. Ansel says, “I know you. You’re not capable of this.” Klaus says, “That’s the first lie you’ve told me.” Then cuts him with the blade and holds him, crying, till he dies.

Klaus rubs the plant on Elijah’s neck, telling him their parents were horrible. They were forced to be monsters, but for Hope they can be knights in shining armor. “Without you by my side, I don’t think I can survive my own love for my daughter. I need you. I need you, brother. The monster in me can only be checked by the monster in you. Only together can we defeat our demons and save our family.” In the dream world, he’s also telling this to a young Elijah. He gives young Elijah a stake which he uses to stake older Elijah, causing him to wake up.

In the cemetery, Esther sees Ansel hanging and starts sobbing.

Elijah, hands shaking, remembers killing Tatia. Klaus comes and gives Klaus Ansel’s journal and tells him he helped find the plant. Elijah, stunned, listens as Klaus questions their life choices, then tells him he killed his birth father to keep Hope safe. Elijah says he would have done it too, to protect Hope.

When Davina wakes and looks at the new bracelet, she sees the Stake and Kol are both gone.

A pissed Esther pays a visit to Cami in the bar and begins a spell as a terrified Cami watches, unable to move.

Marcel and Hayley come and tell Klaus and Elijah they have a present for them. They go and discover that Kol and Finn are both handcuffed to the stairs. Kol says, “Not the best way to begin a family reunion.” Klaus smiles, “Just wait until you see how we end it.”

See how the reunion ends when The Originals 2×08 episode “The Brothers That Care Forgot” airs on Monday, November 24th, 2014, at 8/7c, on The CW!
