Will Caroline survive Damon’s risky plan to save Bonnie in The Vampire Diaries 7×21 “Requiem for a Dream”?

The Vampire Diaries 7×21 “Requiem for a Dream” begins with Damon and Enzo talking about Bonnie. Caroline and Ric are watching over a sleeping Bonnie. Everyone is worried about how Bonnie is going to react. Ric doesn’t want to leave Caroline and Bonnie. Ric reluctantly listens to Caroline.

Meanwhile, Matt is going over Penny’s case file. Matt’s deputy comes to tell Matt that there is activity at the Salvatore house. Matt tells his deputy he’ll take care of it. Meanwhile, Stefan is at a bar and gets a call from Damon. Stefan isn’t thrilled about any of the situations. Stefan says he has a plan though. While, Bonnie is asleep Stefan wants to enter her mind so she can think that she’s already killed everyone in the group.

Caroline begins to visit Bonnie, but Stefan is hovering which Caroline isn’t happy about it. She goes into Bonnie’s mind. Bonnie is in class and Ric is teaching the class about Vampires. Bonnie starts seeing Vampire’s everywhere. She convinces herself it isn’t real and runs into her dorm room. The Vampires won’t leave her alone until Caroline shows up.

Caroline comforts her and Bonnie was so scared. She loves Caroline and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Caroline talks about the girls and starts rambling. Bonnie then brings up the fact that the kids don’t know that she’s a vampire. She makes blood come under the door to prove that Caroline will eventually lose control. Caroline fights it then Bonnie stabs her.

Caroline enters the real world again to find that Dream Bonnie really marked her. So now that when Bonnie wakes up she will want to kill Caroline.

Stefan freaks out but Caroline doesn’t want to runaway like he did. Caroline vents a little but makes it clear she’s not leaving. However Stefan doesn’t accept that,  and drugs her. Meanwhile, Matt shows up. Enzo is outside waiting. He tells Matt what’s going on. Matt tries to stay strong but Enzo makes it clear that he’s pretty much defenseless and he has to wait until Bonnie is awake for the drama.

Damon tries to talk to Bonnie and it’s Enzo’s turn. Enzo visits Bonnie. She’s in high school now, She’s like replaying a Buffy The Vampire Slayer scene. Enzo shows up and she’s so excited and relieved to see him. They hug and they walk around talking. In the music room Enzo reminds her why she loves him. She tries to play the guitar but tells him she doesn’t want to destroy their memories. If she doesn’t take Rayna’s life she’ll die. She tells Enzo that she’ll die then.

Enzo tells her he’s not leaving her then she stakes him too. Enzo tells Damon what all she said and now they’re really worried. Meanwhile, Caroline wakes up in a  hotel room by the airport. Stefan tells her to keep moving and she tells him that he isn’t coming with her. Caroline makes it clear that he isn’t allowed to have a say in her future.

Stefan calls Damon to tell him about the situation. Damon gives him some advice about Caroline. Damon decides to take matters into his own hands and it’s his turn to go see Bonnie.

She’s walking in a road, in front of the old Gilbert house. Bonnie sees Elena. Damon is waiting on the porch though. Damon tries to anger Bonnie. Damon wants Bonnie to finally read the letter, but she rips it up in front of his face. Damon starts telling Bonnie things that she doesn’t want to hear. Bonnie wakes up and is filled with Damon hate.

THE PLAN TO SAVE BONNIE TAKES AN UNEXPECTED TURN IN THIS EPISODE DIRECTED BY PAUL WESLEY — When Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) risky attempt to save Bonnie (Kat Graham) takes an unexpected turn, the consequences of his actions forces everyone to band together to help her pull through. Meanwhile, when a new threat leaves Caroline’s (Candice King) life in jeopardy, Stefan (Paul Wesley) makes a rash decision that ultimately forces them to face the fallout from their relationship. Elsewhere, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) tries to hold it together as he painfully watch Bonnie in the fight of her life, while Matt (Zach Roerig) takes matters into his own hands to save one of his closest friends. Matt Davis also stars.

Caroline is sitting on a bench, thinking about things. Caroline doesn’t want to hurt her family. Caroline tells Stefan that she’s still angry with him. Stefan tells her about why he left, he thought she was happier without him. Stefan tells Caroline he loves her and he couldn’t stand the thought of her being hurt. Caroline tells him she loved him and he hurt her. He apologizes and Caroline tells him she doesn’t think she can forgive him. Caroline gets a call from Bonnie. Bonnie tells Caroline that she’s coming for her.

Caroline agrees to run so that they don’t have to fight Bonnie. Bonnie calls Damon to tell him about how much she hates him. Bonnie is even more connected to her future victims.

Bonnie walks outside to find Matt. Matt tries to talk to her. Matt doesn’t want her to hurt anyone she loves. Bonnie agrees to try as long as Matt helps her. Bonnie tells Matt she’ll try, as long as she can kill Damon first. Matt thinks about it, and says he’ll help her.

Damon is in the woods and Bonnie finds him. Bonnie tries to kill Damon but Damon tries to talk her. Damon takes her mean words like a champ and then Bonnie makes her move.

Caroline calls to tell the girls she would be gone for a little while. Caroline talks to Ric, he begs her to come home. They would run together as a family. Ric is supportive.

Bonnie is walking through the woods, stalking Damon. She shoots him  a few times and then starts beating him. Damon lets her then when he can he runs. Bonnie finds him again. Damon takes her to her grave but she doesn’t even flinch for it. Bonnie goes after Damon but Damon catches her. He tries so hard to bring her back. Bonnie bests him, but Damon does some fast talking to try to save her.

Damon tells her he admires her, believes in her, and he loves her. He tells her it’s okay if she kills him right now. He asks for her forgiveness before she does it. Bonnie starts crying and can’t do it. She lets go. She goes to stake him and Matt shoots her with some Tranquilizer darts.

Matt and Damon carefully put Bonnie in the car. Damon tries to make amends with Matt but Matt isn’t so forgiving.

Caroline and Stefan are still on the road. It’s pouring the rain down and Stefan pressures her to make some decisions. Stefan asks Caroline if she loves Ric. She answers honestly, saying she didn’t know…how do you leave who you love. Then she tells him not to ask about her and Ric.

Matt is driving him and Bonnie away, it’s a rainy night. Bonnie wakes up and chokes Matt. She drags him in the back and takes over driving. Enzo goes to see Damon at the Salvatore house. Enzo might have found a way to help Bonnie.

At the Armory, everyone is dead. Bonnie is linked to the last warrior. Damon and Enzo are going to figure out a way to get into the sealed armory to help Bonnie.

The next episode of The Vampire Diaries will be the 7×22 season 7 finale “Gods & Monsters” on Friday, May 13th, 2016, at 8/7c, followed by The Originals 3×21 “Give ‘Em Hell Kid” at 9/8c, on The CW!
