It then goes to present time, Bonnie is writing to Elena, filling her in on everything. Bonnie gets another one of those visions and passes out.

Ric is at home, Damon is apparently crashing at Ric’s place. Ric doesn’t seem like he’s happy to have Damon there. Bonnie comes over and immediately asks about the stone. Ric lies to Bonnie. Damon has them all load up and go to Myrtle Beach to find Lily’s missing heretic.

At the Salvatore house, Caroline is still being held hostage. She’s getting sick of Nora and Mary-Louise’s drama. Caroline is stuck in Stefan’s room. Stefan gets to call Caroline and she asks about Valerie. Valerie shows up and knocks Caroline out. Lily shows up to where Stefan is, she crashes into Stefan’s car. They talk, Stefan tells her he and Damon aren’t talking anymore. Stefan asks about Valerie. She sent Valerie to Stefan.

In 1863, Valerie looked so beautiful. Stefan was busy writing in his journal and Valerie was like a breath of fresh air to Stefan. In present time, Caroline asks Valerie about Stefan and her past.

Stefan works on his mother’s car for her. She tells him about her reasoning for sending Valerie to him. They have another flashback to 1863, there’s a handsome man who was watching over Valerie. Julian gets rough with Valerie. Valerie was quite smitten with Stefan. Valerie was a witch back then, without a coven. She used an amulet for her power back then. Valerie wants to disappear with Stefan, away from Julian any way.

Stefan and Valerie talk a walk in the woods and share a kiss. She tries to get intimate with him, and he hesitates. Turns out this is his first time. They take things slower, but still moving super fast. He undresses her. Caroline doesn’t like the fact that Valerie was Stefan’s first.

Damon, Bonnie, and Ric get to Myrtle Beach and find the man they were looking for. The man sees Damon and recognizes him. Apparently they had met before. Lily had sent this man to find Damon in 1863.

Stefan is giving Lily driving lessons. He has more flashbacks to his time with Valerie. He took her to Lily’s grave, he brought her flowers daily since she had died. Stefan blamed himself. Valerie comforts him, easing his guilt. Julian finds them and makes Valerie leaves. As she leaves, she promises to find her way back to him one day.

Caroline keeps pushing Valerie’s buttons about Stefan. Lily’s missing heretic is telling Damon, Bonnie, and Ric about why he’s there. Damon makes him “cyphin” Bonnie’s visions. They stand up and he places his hands on her head, he starts to but when he sees them he asks where the stone is. He does a little witchy thing and they all pass out. When they wake up, Oscar is gone and so is the stone. Bonnie is upset and tired of being lying to.
