Elijah is upset with Cami.

In order to take Dahlia down they need Esther’s blood, so they have to find her original body so they can kill Dahlia.

Davina works on her spell to bring Kol back as Vincent warns her that the Mikaelson family may fight, but they’ll always cover each others’ backs when push comes to shove.

At the compound, Rebekah tries to talk sense to the group, then she and Elijah leave to dig Esther up. Rebekah feels guilty about not helping bring Kol back.

Marcel and Freya try a spell to slow Dahlia’s magic. She passes the White Oak Stake over Klaus then pauses. She doesn’t want to kill him. Klaus, Dahlia, and Esther all wake up.

Davina is pissed. Elijah shackles Mama Esther as Dahlia confesses that she unlinked herself from Klaus, so she can kill him anytime she wants to.

At the other side of the bar, Elijah waits with Esther. He’s still pissed, but thinks Klaus’ plan may work. Rebekah, is also pissed at Klaus. Elijah tells him he’s done with him.

“Ashes to Ashes” press release synopsis

EVERYTHING WE LOVE, WE TURN TO ASH – With time running out, Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) ultimate plan to protect baby Hope at all costs continues to take shape. As tensions between the siblings come to a head, Cami (Leah Pipes) reveals a vital piece of information that causes Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah to reconsider their plan of attack against Dahlia (guest star Claudia Black). Davina (Danielle Campbell) finds herself one step closer to fulfilling the promise she made to Kol, while Freya (guest star Riley Voelkel) is forced to take drastic measures to protect herself against Dahlia. Elsewhere, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) has to put aside his fury at Klaus in order to protect himself and everyone in their sire line. Meanwhile, Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) finds himself torn between the prospects of a magic-free life away from New Orleans and a personal obligation to protect Davina. Finally, with their risky plan in place, the Mikaelson siblings prepare for the fight of their lives.

Vincent comes to check up on Cami and wants to know if she’s going to stay loyal to the Mikaelsons. She talks to him about leaving which means Davina would be without somebody to help teach her. Cami confesses her feeling about Klaus, a monster, are complicated.

Dahlia and Freya walk to a place where they used to hang traitors. Klaus and the other Mikaelsons show up.

When Dahlia sees Esther, she’s shocked and starts to cry. She breaks the White Oak Stake into sawdust and makes Elijah, Klaus, and Rebekah inhale it, slowly killing them. Esther confronts her sister as Klaus tries to stake Dahlia. Dahlia stop his attack and begins choking Freya.

Esther protects all her children, including Freya who helps them by unblocking their throats. Esther yells to Elijah to get the prepared knife with Esther’s blood on it. Elijah grabs it and throws it to Klaus, who stabs both Dahlia and Esther.

Before Dahlia and Esther die, they share memories, embrace, and forgive each other. They are now embracing statues of ash. “Seems we’re officially orphans,” says Klaus.

After the turmoil of fighting Dahlia, New Orleans is a beautiful day. Elijah and Marcel burn Gia and another body. Klaus is having a drink at the compound when Rebekah joins him. He tells her he’s done being “king” and just wants to raise Hope. She tells him he needs to find Hayley and save her.

Freya comes and gives Rebekah a choice of remaining in her own body as a vampire or returning to the other one and being a witch. Marcel asks which one she chose. She tells him she’s decided on the witch body until she can help find a way to bring Kol back. She and Marcel kiss as she gets in her car to leave.

Klaus waits at the bar and tells Cami they pretty much were supposed to find other people. But they could be fated. They almost kiss, then Klaus walks out.

It’s a full moon, and Elijah waits for Hayley in her human form. They hug and he promises that he’ll fix everything and will take care of Hope. He’ll also stay with Klaus.

This season 2 finale ends as Klaus rocks Hope. She’s sleeping and he tells her the story of everything that has happened. Elijah joins him and they share a drink together.

The season ends as it began, with a story based in truth told as fiction.

The next episode of The Originals will be the season 3 premiere on their new night of Thursdays at 9/8c after The Vampire Diaries at 8/7c, both returning on October 8th, 2015, on The CW?
