Freya comes for brunch as Rebekah fights her new body and Dahlia arrives in The Originals 2×16 “Save My Soul” episode!

The Originals 2×16 “Save My Soul” begins by flashing back to 977 AD in Norway with Dahlia fixing some food for Freya. She tells the child she wants her to be a strong witch because family is the greatest strength.

Rebekah wakes up with Marcel, remembering the previous night. Marcel tells her to stay put when he hears noise outside. Vampires and witches are feuding and they want Rebekah, who they think is Eva. Elijah comes and reminds Josephine about their agreement. Josephine warns him the witches will return if something isn’t done soon.

At the compound Elijah arrives and tells Klaus Rebekah’s situation is worse, so whatever he’s planning with Freya, not to do it.

Freya arrives and seems happy. Klaus asks her about Dahlia, and Freya tells them Dahlia is power hungry for immortality, which means taking Hope’s power. Freya reveals she wants to kill Dahlia after explaining they have one year of life every 100 years. Klaus seems agreeable to helping kill Dahlia.

Freya’s flashback to her and Dahlie reveals the old witch used dark magic to use Freya’s power when she was a child. She killed an entire village. Elijah receives a call from Rebekah as Eva tries to get through. At the cemetery Rebekah passes out.

Marcel goes to Vincent and explains what Kol did to Rebekah and asks for his help. Vincent isn’t Finn anymore and is shocked to realize that he’s lost nine months of his life during the time Finn possessed him. When Marcel asks about Eva, Vincent refuses to talk. Meanwhile, Rebekah goes to Davina for help with Eva. Davina is busy trying to bring Kol back.

In the bayou, Aiden and Jackson are training. Aiden gets cocky as Jackson starts to win. Then he bites Jackson. Hayley yells at them as Jackson chastises him about his attitude. Aiden tells him other werewolves will be challenging for Alpha.

At the compound, Klaus doesn’t seem too concerned about Dahlia, but she warns them they haven’t seen anything like Dahlia. Elijah, listening, realizes Dahlia and Klaus have the same weakness for wanting power and revenge. Freya confesses she decided to never love or have children so Dahlia wouldn’t take her first born.

Flashing back, Dahlia works a spell for her and Freya to have eternal life. Freya fights her, but Dahlia binds them together. After sleeping for 100 years, they wake with lots of power.

Laughing, Klaus asks her why she doesn’t end her life and her suffering. She confesses she tried killing herself, but she can’t die. She’s immortal.

At Marcel’s, he asks Cami to talk to Vincent. She’s nervous and Vincent’s not happy. She wants him to talk first but he ignores her. She tells him she wants to know about Eva.

Rebekah wakes up when her phone rings. She tells Elijah she passed out and doesn’t know where she is.

As Jackson and Hayley practice fighting, Jackson mentions what Aiden said. Hayley tries to pep him up. He admits he doesn’t like living with Klaus, but Hayley tries to assure him that things are going to be fine.

“Save My Soul” press release synopsis

FLASHBACKS TO FREYA’S CHILDHOOD – Suspicious of where her true loyalties lie, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) invites Freya (guest star Riley Voelkel) to the compound in order to gain more insight into her past with Dahlia. After a series of strange visions, Rebekah (guest star Maisie Richardson-Sellers) begins to realize the body she’s inhabiting is attempting to regain control. With Rebekah’s life on the line, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) puts his bargaining skills to the test when he turns to Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), who may have some knowledge that could help them. Lastly, at the bayou, Jackson’s (guest star Nathan Parsons) frustrations grow after Aiden (guest star Colin Woodell) questions his leadership skills. Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin and Leah Pipes also star.

After Rebekah arrives at the Mikaelson compound, Elijah asks Freya to fix Rebekah, even though Klaus isn’t sure it’s such a good idea.

Vincent tells Cami he doesn’t remember anything after waking up. Cami gets in her therapist mode, but Vincent doesn’t know how he feels about anything. Cami tries to assure Vincent that he’s not at fault for the stuff that Finn did.

Freya tries to help Rebekah. She calls a skeptical Klaus out because he’s being stubborn. She brings up family stuff to bond them. Although Elijah feels a connection to her, Klaus apparently doesn’t since he snaps her neck, which upsets Elijah and Rebekah. They give him a lecture but he’s disappointed they unquestioningly believed Freya. Rebekah, followed by Elijah, leaves to see if Marcel has had any luck with helping her.

Cami still talks to Vincent, who says he’s always lived in the French Quarter and left his coven. He talks about Eva.

Klaus watches as Freya wakes. He says he doesn’t trust her and will always watch over Elijah and Rebekah. He gives her one more chance to tell the truth, and this time not to muck it up.

She tells him she loved somebody, Mathias, but Dahlia didn’t let it last for long. She had a son. Dahlia cursed the man she loved, so Freya killed the child, trying to kill herself. But she couldn’t die. So she’s had to live with the murder of her son. He still doesn’t believe her. She warns him about Hope’s future. Klaus warns her not to manipulate him again. She warns him that she’s not going anywhere.

Elijah and Rebekah go to Marcel’s to talk to Vincent. Vincent is stunned to see her. Turns out they used to be married.

Hayley comes home to talk with Klaus, who is grumpy. She tells him to back off Jackson and the werewolves, but he’s not in the mood to take orders and yells at her. He makes it clear he’s Hope’s protector and whoever gets in his way will die.

Cami gets a drink at Rousseau’s in the Quarter when Vincent comes and shares a drink. He tells her to stay away from all the vampires and their drama, but one thing she’s learned is that it’s better not to be alone.

Rebekah tells Marcel she’s overwhelmed and feels vulnerable which scares her. He tries to comfort her, telling her she’s strong. He gives her a drink and she begins having visions of the people she killed the previous night. She asks Marcel to watch over her.

Aiden is sleeping at a warehouse. Somebody has spelled Aiden, Davina, and several others.

Klaus goes to the place where Elijah is living and tells him he’s changed his mind regarding Freya. Elijah wants him to be careful and says he’ll kill Freya himself if she steps out of line. Klaus says if anything happens to Hope Elijah will feel guilty for the rest of his life.

As “Save My Soul” ends we see Hope asleep in her crib. Dahlia’s humming is heard, and the music box near Hope’s crib turns on.

The Originals next episode is 2×17 “Exquisite Corpse” on Monday, April 6th, 2015, at 8/7c, on The CW!
