NBC renews Aquarius starring David Duchovny and The Originals Claire Holt for season 2!
NBC renewed the 1960’s drama Aquarius starring David Duchovny and Claire Holt for a season 2. The series was released for binge viewing following it’s May 28th, 2015, premiere. The series is envisioned by creator John McNamara to be six seasons, so four more to go!
With the event series Aquarius, NBC is the first network to release the entire season online after airing the premiere episode. According to Jennifer Salke, Entertainment President of NBC, the experiment paid off.

It’s no secret that the way people watch television is evolving. So we took a unique approach to how we delivered Aquarius and it’s driven some record numbers for NBC Digital and helped us reach viewers who might have otherwise overlooked a great summer drama.
The ratings for the series have been increasing, with last week’s numbers attracting 5.8 million viewers for a 1.2 rating in the important 18-49 demographics.
In last week’s episode, hard ass LAPD Sergeant Sam Hodiak, played by David Duchovny, beat up Charlie Manson, played by Gethin Anthony, when he fell off the wagon and went looking for Emma, played by Emma Dumont, the daughter of his lost love. Emma is now a newly minted Manson family member named Cherry.
In this week’s episode we got to see more of Claire Holt, who plays frustrated Officer Charmain Tully. Her character wants to be taken seriously as a police detective, although she’s only an officer, who wants to join the big boy’s club with Hodiak.
She was thrown a bone by Hodiak when he gave her the task to interview a co-ed who had been allegedly beaten up in a robbery. After investigating, she realized the girl’s jock boyfriend had beaten her. After the co-ed ends up in a coma, she decides to go under cover to entrap the jock. Hodiak, smart guy that he is, realized her plan when he saw her all dressed up and fit to kill. He appears to have persuaded her to give her plan up. After all, her two choices were to either be fired for doing something she’s not authorized to do or wind up in a coma or dead herself. Not the best way to prove her eligibility to join the male-dominated, testosterone-filled world of the 1967 LAPD.

Let’s hope the renewal of Aquarius, which has 7 more episodes remaining in season 1, doesn’t interfere with Claire making guest appearances on The Originals, which moves to Thursday nights at 9/8c, after The Vampire Diaries at 8/7c, beginning October 8th, 2015, on The CW!
