Its official the Syfy network isn’t a safe haven anymore for Haven’s troubles after a season 5 cancellation!

The Haven series showrunner Gabrielle Stanton announced its cancellation after 5 seasons saying the last 13 episodes will hopefully be a “satisfying” ending!

Syfy cancelled Haven after it had completed shooting the last 13 episodes for the second half of their season 5, according to Gabrielle Stanton, the showrunner. Gabrielle says the final 13 were written as if they could be the last, which they will be, so she’s hoping they will create a “satisfying” ending.

We left it open, but if it is the series finale, we think the fans will be satisfied.

I’m sure as a fellow TV fan, there’s nothing more annoying than when a show kind of feels like it might be wrapping up, but they just don’t address it, they don’t come to any kind of satisfying conclusion. I always think that’s cheating the audience a little bit, of a nice satisfying ending. So we really looked at these 13 episodes. … If we were indeed going to end, what would be the best ending we could possibly do for Haven?

She explained that they didn’t leave the final episode on a “giant cliffhanger” just in case Syfy changes it’s mind. As a viewer, she wanted the fans to be satisfied and not frustrated. She stated, “I think it will feel satisfying on its own as a finale for a series as a whole. But if fans wanted a TV movie after that, I bet you’d find some actors and writers who are very amenable to that.”

Gabrielle said some of the stuff in the last 13 episodes will include some of the things creators Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn envisioned as how the series would end, but some things will be new because of how the mythology changed over the seasons. “[A]s our mythology expanded over the years, I think we ended up taking it to maybe a deeper level than we would have thought we were going to in the pilot.”

She mentioned that there’s a possibility that eOne and Piller/Segan/Shepard, the show’s production companies, are shopping it to other networks and services such as Netflix, but she’s not involved with their discussions. She feels with the nature of the show and the rich world that has been created, it could go on for years. After all, she says, “You can never run out of Troubles!”
